1820 Kannon Bosatsu
This very old cast iron statue has a rich surface texture with moderate mineral deposits. Made in 1820, it stands approximately 15″ high and weighs just under 5 lbs. The Kannon is missing a flaming mandorla which would normally be attached behind her head but overall, she is in very good condition.

1932 Olympics Opening Ceremony Ticket
Just as the 2016 Olympics begin, we found this Opening Ceremony ticket to the 1932 Olympics in Los Angeles. And with it, a program from the games as well. Both are in excellent condition especially considering that the program was probably used as a fan on that hot July afternoon in Olympic Stadium.
Jean Harlow’s Life Story by Louella Parsons
Shortly after Jean’s death in 1936, this tabloid magazine written by Louella Parsons was published. It is filled with poignant remembrances of Jean’s life, her early years, marriages, and many photos. There is a lot of “insider” information as only Louella could gather and the article is based on her past interviews.
World War II Signal Corps Headset
This is a U.S. Army Signal Corps HB-7 headset specially designed to be worn without a helmet. It has a short plug made to pull out easily in case of emergency. Later, as the United States got more involved in the conflict, these were modified to include a microphone. The R-14 receiver pieces were built into the sides of the cloth helmets so the leather and metal band wasn’t required.
1955 Adventures of Superman Script This original shooting script from The Adventures of Superman is for the episode “Peril By Sea.” First televised in 1952, Superman starred George Reeves in the lead role as Superman / Clark Kent. This rare script is complete with handwritten notes and changes penciled in. In this episode, Perry White discovers an ancient formula which attracts the attention of the villains. 1939 Peter Pan Card Game
Castell Brothers was founded in 1878 as a manufacturer of diaries and card games and chose “Pepys” as their brand name. In late 1939, Pepys issued the Peter Pan game. It was one of only five card games Pepys continued to print during WWII. Each card is printed in full color with beautiful artwork telling the story of Peter, the lost boys, and Capt. Hook.
1884 Carson City Silver Dollar
This coin comes from the vaults of the U.S. Treasury. In 1964, a number of bags of uncirculated silver dollars, including ones with the desirable Carson City mint mark, were discovered during an annual audit. This rare, brilliant uncirculated 1884 silver dollar is in its original GSA holder and is packaged with both a certificate of authenticity and a serial number.
100-year-old Mah Jong set
Mah Jong came to the United States in the 1920s and were first sold by Abercrombie & Fitch. This set is from the early 20s – identifiable by the cow bone and bamboo tiles and the “slide front” wooden box. It has two tiny bone dice and six larger dice. There are also plenty of bone betting sticks to allow for either Chinese or American play.
House of Representatives Dining Room Menu
In 1858, a dining room was installed just below the House Chamber. This restaurant has occupied the same spot for over 150 years. The menu, however, is only from 1939. Very interesting insight into diet and food tastes – prices too. Broiled ham steak and a beer for only 85ยข.
